The Framing is the Fastest Part

Construction is for real happening around here, but framing is always the fastest part of the process.  You think to yourself “wow, this won’t take that long”; and then two years later you are sitting in a room that is only 90% complete and you’re wondering how in the world those people on extreme home makeover can build a house in a week.  It’s annoying.  But for now, I am enjoying the illusion that we are moving ahead at a fast pace.  I am also enjoying the fact that this is the first phase of our remodel that is 100% happening outside of the house.  Aside from a leaking window that was a result of sideways, torrential downpours that started the same day that part of the roof came off; we have generally been unaffected by the chaos happening outside.

I am also excited that the garage is taking shape, which means I am getting closer and closer to all of my man’s tools getting out of my linen closets:

The chimney was also raised today, which means the roof is coming off next week, which also means there will likely be a spontaneous hurricane formed off the coast with a bulls-eye right over my home.  The surest way to end a drought, is to take off your roof:

And in much more important news: my two year old baby boy started preschool.  Don’t cry Amy, don’t cry.

  1. love the addition….so you know I need details….maybe you already posted them and it was when I was in a blogging lull….anywhoo, do you have a garage already or did this house not have one? If it had one, what it did it turn into since you are adding another one?

LOVE the look of the back of the house….love it when additions don’t look like additions, and yours doesn’t.
    yay.

praying you’re wrong and that there isn’t a hurricane that lands over the top of your house when you take that roof off. :)
