A Whole Lot of Random Today

I am all over the place today!  Really, I am all over the place everyday, I just force a bit of focus when I sit down at the blog to write. Not today though. There is no focus to be found.  First I have a new artist crush.  Her name is Cheri Christensen and she is a Russian Impressionist.  Though my untrained brain does not know exactly what that means (aside from the obvious), what I do know is that I apparently really like Russian Impressionism.  Her ability to capture light is breathtaking, and I am excited to try my hand at painting light.  Here are a few of my favorites:

I have a love for sheep, so this one in particular pleases my heart.  I have so many pictures of sheep that I took when we were in Switzerland, I am quite anxious to paint them.

Next, our house color. Have you ever had to pick an exterior house paint color?  There are few assignments more annoying and terrifying than picking a paint color that cannot be changed.  If I don’t like it, there is no going back, I will be looking at this color for a good 15 – 20 years!  The slightest difference in color, value or shade, is actually a really big difference.  The precious lady at the Benjamin Moore paint store was so helpful, but she really does hate me, and I don’t blame her.  I now own about twenty pint sized samples, all of them cream color.  Here is what we narrowed it down to, both fantastic colors, both Benjamin Moore:

  Clay Beige

Muslin

Huge difference, right (ha, ha)?  We ended up going with Clay Beige, because I was afraid that Muslin looked too light.  In hindsight, I think it would have been fine.  I highly recommend either shade.  Getting everything outside painted one color has made such a huge difference!  Our guys are doing such a great job, can’t wait to show you once it is done.  Our painters name is “Caesar”.  I am not sure if that is his first or last name, we just call him Caesar.  He is the most immaculate painter that I have ever worked with.  He is however no nonsense, and he gets very upset with us if we do not keep the schedule moving to his likeness.  He needs good, fast decisions so that he can make his magic happen.  He reminds me of “The Soup Nazi” from Seinfeld.  Do you remember him?  We call Caesar “The Paint Nazi”.  Whenever I have to discuss anything with him I am totally intimidated and I am just waiting for him to say “No paint for you!”.

Lastly, I spent five hours having my hair highlighted on Tuesday…FIVE HOURS.  She was new and I have a lot of hair, I think she wanted to cry a few times.  So did I.  Two fun things about that experience though.  First, I was able to sit and read a new bible study that my sister-in-law sent me (Lori, I’m almost done).  More to come on that later.  Secondly, Cinderella from “Disney on Ice” was sitting next to me having her hair highlighted as well.  I mean, seriously!  She is in town for a performance and needed a little touch up.  As it turn out, Cinderella wears Uggs, drinks Starbucks and reads People Magazine.  She also skates with her husband who plays the role of Prince Charming….people, I am not making this up.  And speaking of Prince Charming, I never told you that Thomas dressed as him for Halloween.  My girls were princesses so of course….it only made sense.  He was precious, my husband was furious, and one person asked if he was dressed as Michael Jackson.  I laughed until I cried, my husband just glared at me.  But now that I think of it, it did look like one of Michael’s crazy get-ups.

And speaking of crazy, I’m done spewing all mine at you. Have an awesome weekend friends!

  1. Oh, how handsome is your little man!!

I’m so glad to knoiw that all the randomness in my head is shared by others – no need to suffer alone!

  2. Thomas looked adorable, just like Prince William! Your hubby should know that an OUTFIT will NOT change who your adorable son is!!!!!! I picked the same color as you, glad you went with it. My cousins used to skate with the Ice Follies…………..about 40 years ago:):) XO, Pinky

  3. that made me giggle! and your son looks much more princely than michael jackson’y! (you can tell your husband at least he wasn’t on ice skates ;)

  4. This post made me laugh! Thomas looks adorable as Prince Charming. Can’t believe someone actually thought he was Michael Jackson…but that’s too funny! Can’t wait to see your house when it’s all painted. I bet it’s going to look great! And I wanta see what a 5 hour highlight looks like. :-) That is a painfully long time to sit there and get your hair done!
